Hello, I’m currently sitting in the lovely Garden Café, our favorite place in Granada, Nicaragua. Our days are long, yet filled with lots of joy. We are currently serving with REAP ministries, run by Scott and Jenn Esposito. What’s unique about this ministry is that the hosts focus on preparing us spiritually to head home. As we prepare to head home in May, it his helpful to have a focus on solidifying our spiritual disciplines.

Other than that, our ministries change a lot, which is fun. One thing we do is go to the dump where people live and work. We then serve food and host a small church service. We also pray for people in their homes or even at the hospital. Lastly, since we are living on a 70 acre farm, we help with a lot of things around the campus. The other day we pulled weeds and planted carrots.

The days here are often times a lot slower than the ones that we have experienced on the race. I’m the type of person that generally likes to be doing something consistently, so this has been challenging for me. I am learning what it looks like to stay productive and find entertainment in the mundane.

For ministry, my favorite part of Nicaragua has been prayer walking. I love being able to go into people’s home and encourage them in the hope of Jesus Christ. Maybe we may not see them again on earth, but at least we are able to have the honor of befriending and praying for them. I love being able to practice my Spanish through talking to them.

Outside of ministry, my favorite part of Nicaragua has been the friendships I have made. There have been a World Race 11n11 squad, World Race semesters, and Denver Gap year program come through. Through this, we have been able to bond through sharing similar endeavors. Also, I have been able to make some amazing friendships with some locals here. The Nicaraguan culture is so friendly and inviting- I love it!

Throughout the race, I have been trying to read more of the Old Testament. I am currently finishing up 1 Samuel. It has been difficult, yet also amazing. The power of God is so big. He does such grand things. He is in control, no matter what is occurring in life.

This has been life recently. Thank you all for your support and your prayers.

With much love,

Peyton Kaiser
